What is Abyss?

Abyss is the execution layer for AI-built tools. A Creator publishes a Python project as a Widget, and Abyss gives it a form, a link and a price per Run, then runs it for the people the Creator shares it with, or for anyone browsing the Catalog.

What is a Widget?

A Widget is a published Python project, often calling an AI model, with an input form and output files. You fill in the form, press Run and download what it made, with no code and no setup. How to build one is in the docs.

What is Byssium?

Byssium is a prepayment for runs: you buy it from Abyss and spend it only on Abyss. 100 Byssium is about $1, the rate of the smallest top-up, and larger top-ups give more Byssium per dollar. Every number on Abyss, as it stands today, is on the pricing page.

How is a Run paid?

Each Widget shows its price per Run, and pressing Run reserves it from your Byssium, your Prime allowance first if you have Prime. If you don't have enough, the Byssium Checkout opens so you can top up, and your inputs stay where they are. A Widget priced at 0 costs nothing, and so does a Creator's Run of their own Widget.

What if a Run fails?

A failed Run is refunded in full, always. The Byssium goes back where it came from, and a Free Run used on it is handed back too.

What is a Free Run?

A Free Run is a Run of a paid Widget that costs you nothing and pays its Creator nothing. The Creator decides how many each Runner gets, up to 10, and the Widget's price shows how many you have left.

Who can see my Run?

Abyss shows your Run to you alone, unless you share it. If a Creator paid for your Run through their own link, they can open it too. A Widget is its Creator's code, though: it gets what you put in, and can keep it or send it on.

Can I use what a Widget makes for my work?

Yes. What your Runs make is yours to use for anything lawful, client work included, and no Creator can narrow that. The Terms say so in full.

Can I get my money back?

A failed Run is always refunded. Wherever you live, you may withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of paying, from the purchase in your Cave's History, and get back what you haven't used. Otherwise Byssium isn't refunded, except as the Terms say or the law requires.

What is Abyssian Prime, and how do I cancel it?

Abyssian Prime is the monthly subscription, at $14.99 a month, with a Prime allowance of 1,800 Byssium a month for Runs, kept apart from your wallet and replaced with a fresh one at each renewal. You take it in the Byssium Checkout and cancel it in your Cave, and a cancelled Prime stays yours until the month you paid for ends. Prime takes nothing off a Run's price, and its numbers are on the pricing page.

Can I run Widgets from my own code?

Yes. An API key from your Cave runs any Widget your code can see and pays from your Byssium, through the abysshub library for JavaScript and Python, or plain HTTP. How is in Call Abyss from your code.

What can I publish?

Any Python project with a run.py and a requirements.txt, as long as it keeps to what the Terms say a Widget may not do. Nobody reviews it before it goes live. Your first Widget in five minutes takes you from a folder to a published Widget.

How do I price my Widget, and what do I earn?

You set a price per Run from 0 to 1,000 Byssium, and you can change it later. When someone else's paid Run of your Widget succeeds, its full price moves to your wallet as Earned Byssium, and Free Runs, failed Runs and your own Runs move nothing. The rest is in Test, publish, price.

How do I withdraw?

Only Earned Byssium can be withdrawn: Byssium you bought, and your Prime allowance, can only be spent. Once your Earned Byssium reaches the minimum, Earnings in your Studio, at /studio/<your address>/earnings, asks once for your Tax Form and a bank account you connect through Stripe, in a country on where you can withdraw. Until you give the Tax Form, Earned Byssium can't be withdrawn or spent. Earnings shows the minimum, and the rate is on the pricing page.

Who can see my code?

Runners get the results, not your Source. Only you and Abyss's admins see it. More is in Your code, keys and data.

Are my API keys safe?

Your Environment variables are stored encrypted and sent only to you, and your Widget's code gets them on every Run. Whatever your Widget writes to its output is shown to whoever runs it, so never write a key there, or into your code. Where keys go is in Environment variables.

What happens to my files?

A file you pick is deleted a day after upload if you never press Run, and one used in a Run stays with that Run, yours alone unless the Run is Shared. A Run's files are never deleted for their age. Files nobody has opened for a long time go to sleep, and pressing Wake brings them back within 12 hours.

How do I delete my account?

From Settings in your Cave. You type "delete" and your username, then a code we email you. For 30 days you can restore it by signing in. Then it's deleted for good: your personal data is erased, keeping only what the law makes us keep. Unused Purchased Byssium ends then, and we pay out your Earned Byssium.
